The Illinois High School Theatre Festival is the largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the world. The three-day Festival takes place every year in early January, and switches locations between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Illinois State University. Over 4,000 students, teachers, university representatives, exhibitors, and volunteers come together to put on over 25 different high school productions and over 150 workshops. Other highlights include college/university auditions for high school seniors, professional development for teachers and the All-State Production, featuring student cast and crew members from across the state.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

All-State Audition Information for "Memphis - the Musical" will be posted on-line by April 2nd.  Other IHSTF-related information will be available on-line beginning in early May.

 As with the 2012 Festival, this year's Festival is "Going Green."  As a result, Festival information will NOT be mailed as it has been in the past.  All information will only be available online. Please visit the Festival website for this year's information.  You may also access information about this year's Festival on Facebook and Twitter.  If you would like e-mail reminders about important Festival updates and announcements, be sure to opt-in to receive e-mails from the Festival website.
Application for Executive Director IHSTF 2015
 

Requirements:

To be eligible for selection, the Festival Director applicant must:  

a) have served at least two years on the Festival Committee.

b) be a member of the Illinois Theatre Association. 

c) have had previous Festival experience, i.e. bringing students, evaluating performances, conducting workshops, and/or presenting productions.

d) agree to a three-year commitment: • one year as Executive Director elect • one year as Executive Director • one year as Executive Director Emeritus. 

The Application Process: 

The applicant must either submit a letter which at minimum includes:  

a) previous Festival experience.  

b) qualifications. 

c) the names and phone numbers of three references. (Two of these should be people who worked with the applicant on a Festival Committee.)
