GreenMan Theatre Announces Auditions for Woody Allen's Don't Drink the Water

Audition dates for GreenMan Theatre’s spring show, Woody Allen's hilarious comedy, Don't Drink the Water, have been scheduled. Auditions will be
held February 28 through March 2 at the First United Methodist Church, 232 S. York Road in Elmhurst. Audition times are 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 28 and 7:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday, March 1 & 2. Performances will begin April 16 and run three weekends through May 2, at the church. GreenMan board member Benjamin Vargas, who has designed costumes for many GreenMan shows and directed at several area theatres, will direct the production.

Don't Drink the Water is an early Woody Allen play that blends his trademark comedy with slapstick situations. The play is set
during the cold war in a communist country in the early 1960's. A New Jersey caterer and his family must take refuge in the American embassy when they are suspected of being spies. Will they ever be able to escape? Or are they really spies? And will the family start an international incident before the embassy chef decides to kill them! There are roles for three women and ten men. Character descriptions are posted at GreenMan's website. Cold readings from the script will be used at auditions. Appointments for auditions are not required. Several roles will be engaging in physical comedy. Rehearsals for the show begin early in March. There is no pay. Volunteers are also needed to assist the production team in several areas. For more information about auditions or volunteer positions, call 630-464-2646, or visit www.greenmantheatre.com.
